Silk Workshops
Before the run of SILK, company members delivered a series of workshops in local schools, which explored Sadaf's journey and adventures along the Silk Road through theatre, movement, storytelling and crafts.
The activities included a region wide schools project, including creative movement, theatre and crafts which resulted in the schools group creating the supporting exhibition which was shown in Dance City for two months. An intergenerational project with Young and Proud mums and residents of Fountain Court assisted living scheme in partnership with Soul Soup and Gateshead Council was also a great success. This project culminated in a Shabe Yalde celebratory event where we shared food, stories and laughter.
Accompanying these projects ZENDEH delivered an interdisciplinary, intergenerational and professional development workshop which was attended by a wide range of artists including a professional aerialist and a retired dancer in her seventies wishing to reconnect with movement and theatre.
Finally ZENDEH led a development workshop in collaborating with other artists for Sunderland University Foundation Degree (Dance) students.
