Love ' s Fire is a journey into eleventh century Persia to discover the creation of one of the world ' s most enduring epic love poems. Nezami Ganjavi is a celebrated poet, haunted by the love of his long-dead wife. He is estranged from his son and cynical about the power of poetry to fill men ' s hearts with love. Extracts of verses from Nezami ' s poem " Layli and Majnun " are performed in classical Farsi within the play. Love ' s Fire is a work in progress and this is the first opportunity to be part of the development process of a unique, new and exciting play.
This event is included in The Edinburgh International Festival of Middle Eastern Spirituality and Peace February 8 - March 12, 2006.
